Saturday Checklist

  1. Eat breakfast at IHOP, where server ignores us for 10 minutes and doesn’t bring drinks or refills, then ignores us for half an hour, bringing other people their food long before ours… and then screws up my order. Check!
  2. Buy nice, cheap car. Check!
  3. Get library card and check out a CD to listen to in the car. Check!
  4. Donate about 10 units of plasma and red blood cells, thereby saving some babies’* lives. Check!
  5. Buy floor mats, seatbelt adjuster, windshield screen, and cell phone holder for car and install in same. Check!
  6. Clean out trash accumulated from the day’s purchases. Check!
  7. Come home, read book, collapse. Check!
  8. Make a delicious and quick chicken dinner of chicken and mushrooms sauteed in a wine-garlic reduction sauce with brussels sprouts and brown rice. Check!
  9. Watch The Incredibles on TV and snuggle with Johnny, Alladin, and my knitting. Check!

All in all, a pretty nice day. The item on my to-do list that was most pressing was “Do corporate taxes,” which are due March 15. I get no check for that one, and today’s to-do item will be “file for extension.” Boo.

By the way, the picture of my car yesterday is a little deceptive. It’s actually a light/pale green, not unlike alien skin or the soft underpart of cthulhu’s tentacles. It’s a 2002 Kia Rio, and it drives well, has 4 doors and an automatic transmission, and is basically a very basic car. The temptation to turn it into the Alien Art Car is very, very high.

* “Babies” because I’m CMV negative, which means my blood is free of an antibody that cannot be transfused to newborns.
